The Wakatipu Community Foundation is thrilled to announce the finalists for the Spirit of the Wakatipu 2024 Awards, to be celebrated at the highly anticipated Gala on Saturday, 19 October 2024, at the Queenstown Events Centre. With over 100 nominations received this year, the response from the community has been incredible, showcasing the passion and dedication within the Whakatipu region.
This year’s Gala, themed "Dream Big," celebrates those in our community who dare to dream for a brighter future and work tirelessly to make those dreams a reality. Each of our finalists exemplifies this spirit, playing a crucial role in shaping the future of Whakatipu.
We are excited to continue our partnership with Gibbston Valley as the main sponsor for this year's event. Their unwavering commitment to sustainability and community engagement aligns perfectly with our theme of dreaming big for Whakatipu. Their support has been vital in bringing this special event to life.
Introducing the Heart of the Whakatipu Award for Lifetime Achievement Sponsored by Queenstown Lakes District Council
This year, we are proud to present the newly named Heart of the Whakatipu Award, previously known as the Lifetime Achievement Award. This prestigious award, presented by Mayor Glynn Lewers, recognises those who have demonstrated extraordinary leadership and made long-standing contributions to the Whakatipu region. These leaders embody the spirit of Whakatipu through their enduring service, dedication, and impact on the community.
People's Choice Award Sponsored by Mountain Scene
We are also excited to feature the People's Choice Award, sponsored by Mountain Scene. This award allows the community to have their say by voting for their favourite finalist. Voting will be conducted by Mountain Scene, giving everyone a chance to support and celebrate the individuals and organisations they believe have made the most significant impact.
Tracey Roxburgh, editor of Mountain Scene and a passionate supporter of local philanthropic causes, shared her thoughts on the award:"The People's Choice Award is a fantastic opportunity for the community to engage in recognising those who make a real difference in Whakatipu. We're thrilled to be part of this celebration of community spirit and local heroes."
Jennifer Belmont, Founder and CEO of Wakatipu Community Foundation said “We are incredibly proud to announce this year’s finalists, who truly embody the theme of ‘Dream Big.’ Each finalist represents the spirit of the Whakatipu community and its boundless potential.
