The Wakatipu Community Foundation (WCF) and the Queenstown Business Chamber of Commerce have launched the BforGood (Business for Good) Programme. This programme is part of the Wakatipu Community Foundation’s new BforGood Initiative, which targets businesses eager to develop strategic community giving.

The BforGood Programme is a hands-on, four-part workshop series designed to help businesses develop and implement a strategic, measurable approach to corporate social responsibility (CSR).

Through expert-led sessions, peer networking and practical resources, businesses will discover how to align their values with meaningful community contributions, establish effective partnerships and evaluate success.

"We are thrilled to have Clare Irons leading this important initiative, bringing 20 years of expertise in this space’, said Jennifer Belmont, Founder and CEO of Wakatipu Community Foundation. ‘Businesses play a vital role in our community, and our goal is to support them in making strategic contributions, whether through time, skills, or financial resources. A thriving community is one where businesses, individuals, and the environment flourish, and by working together, we can make that a reality."

Queenstown Business Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Sharon Fifield said, ‘More than ever, businesses have a responsibility to be good corporate citizens and stewards for our community and environment - their customers and workforce seek it. So many of our local businesses already give so much to the community we all love. We’re really pleased to partner with the Wakatipu Community Foundation in delivering the BforGood programme, as it will enable more businesses to strategically contribute which is a win/win for us all”

In recognition of the benefits of such a programme to the wider community, Central Lakes Trust (CLT) is offering subsidies to reduce the course fees for participants. “This is a great initiative, encouraging businesses to lean into community groups in a meaningful way.” Barbara Bridger CEO Central Lakes Trust.

At the end of the BforGood Programme, participants will have acquired the skills to create a strategic, measurable community strategy along with a roadmap for sustainable community impact. Central Lakes Trust has also offered their support of the programme meaning small / medium sized businesses can benefit from subsidised course fees to participate.

  • Providing information on giving strategies

  • Connecting you with local causes, programmes or charities doing good work in your community

  • Tailoring a plan of how you would like your money to be used

  • Simplifying the process by managing all administration, investments and distributing the income – you get to say where your gift goes, which is the best bit!
